Class Of 1964
James Allen
Picture jimallen5940@yahoo.com
After graduating from Valdosta
Tech in 1966 I married and moved to Homerville, worked for Standard Container Corp.
for 3 years, moved to Atlanta and went to work for Lanier Business products as a
field engineer. During the next 13 years with Lanier we relocated to Dallas, TX., Fort Worth, Tx., Atlanta again then
Florence, SC. and Columbia, SC. The
next 24 years were spent in
SC working for Racal Data-Comm and traveling the East coast as a senior field engineer/systems
specialist. I currently work for Industrial Fire Systems in Columbia, SC as a Tech.
I married Linda Selph from Homerville, GA in 1966 and she still puts
up with me today. We have
2 married daughters and 6 unmarried grandkids. My daughters and I have been avid cyclists
and between us we have logged over 100,000 miles (no typo), doing many week
long tours including "BRAG", the Bicycle Ride Across Georgia
several times. I love to
do home remodeling, and building furniture and toys, building and racing "SOAPBOX DERBY"
cars with my grandson and grand daughter. In our "spare" time
we like to cruise on the
pontoon with friends and being active in our Church.

Still living in Roanoke
VA and still working for American Electric Power Company (AEP). I really had a good time
at the 40 year Class of 1964 Reunion this past year. It was good to
see all the classmates
and teachers that were present.

I also remember that we
were the Golden Eagles!! When I stumbled upon the
Vikings; I couldn't remember THAT!! Felt kinda old there for a few minutes. Thank Goodness, I kept reading and came upon
John Rowan. Now I feel better.
My family left Valdosta
right after graduation. Been married to the same wonderful man for 32 years; live in wonderful
Lake County, FL (near Orlando, but not too near). We have 2 daughters, 1 son and are
the proud grandparents of 1 granddaughter!! Life has just gotten better with the years.
Thank you so much for this site==I have written to LHS many times
in the past 30 years trying
to find out about reunions. This
is wonderful. Maybe there will be another reunion soon; I
would surely like to attend.

I also remember the days
of the LoHi Golden Eagles. (My younger sister was a Viking.) I did undergraduate studies at
the University of Georgia and graduate studies at Oklahoma State University. Nick and I were married in 1968; we have two
boys, David & Joseph and two daughters-in-law. No grandchildren, but 4 grand-cats and a grand-dog!
Since 1987 I have been the Head Teacher at
the Infant Laboratory (a child development lab school) at the University of Alabama.
Based on his 25+ years of research on families, Nick & I have coauthored two books, "Fantastic
Families" and "Magnificent Marriage." We have lived in Oklahoma, Nebraska, and
California before moving back "closer-to-home" to Alabama. Small world -- we attend church with Jack Woodard,
class of 1960 (give or take a year).

It appears I am the ole
rat in the barn. I graduated
from old Lowndes County High and our team were the screeming
Golden Eagles. After graduating
in 64 I served three years in the Army in Korea. Graduated from East Carolina University, Greenville,
NC. Married a Carolina girl, Susan. who gave me
two wonderful children, Jason and Alexis.
Jason graduated from Appalachian State University, Boone, NC and Alexis
graduated from Davidison College, Davidison, NC. I have been an District Office Manager for the
N.C. Division of Veterans Affairs for 30 years and
looking forward to retirement.. I
have been to all class re-unions except one since graduation.
We were suppose to have our 35th in 1999 and something went astray. Thinking about 2000. You have a great idea and I can be reached at
by e-mail at alwood@eastlink. net. LOVE TO HEAR FROM THE CLASS OF 64.
