FALL FRENZY FOOTBALL: Class Reunion Follow-Up Activity

SAVE THE DATE!!!

September 4th, 2009

The homecoming game is going to be very early in the season this year. It falls the weekend before LABOR DAY. This should allow some extra traveling time and/or extended time to "visit" with classmates. If you have not attended a Viking Football game recently, it is a carnival atmosphere! Hours and hours before kick-off the parking lot is loaded with tailgate parties! Can you imagine? YES, it has all the trappings of a college or PRO football event. We thought the LHS Class of 79 had a large band with its 175 members. The band now boosts over 400 band members! That gives you an idea of how spectacular the Viking half-time performance will be!

In fact, entertainment starts early with a special PRE-GAME preformance by Alumni band members. If you'd like to participate in the Alumni band, contact Joy McClellan Schunoff at joysch@bellsouth.net or visit the official Georgia Bridgemen website.

With the exception of mailing in your money for your football tickets and Pavillion rental, all fees for attending this FALL FRENZY will be pay as you go. In order to accommodate our large numbers, we will secure blocked seating on the visitor side of the field.

Hotel Reservations: Poolside rooms have been secured at the Comfort Inn/Austin's Restaurant off I-75 on Exit 16. Even though it is a busy holiday weekend, they are offering us a discounted price of $80 per night (includes tax). Reservations need to be made in advance because rooms won't last! Our contact person is Cynthia Jenkins at 229-242-1212. Let her know you are with the LHS Class of '79. They have a wonderful, PRIVATE pavillion area located near the full service bar, near the pool. The pavillion is a large screened-in building with sand volleyball area and shuffleboard. We have already reserved exclusive use of this area for Friday, Saturday and Sunday!

This is our tentative agenda:

Friday, September 4th: Homecoming Football Game with our own tailgate party running from 4:30-7:30. We'll enter the stadium early for the pre-game show. Kick-off is at 8:00pm. After the game, we'll return to the Comfort Inn Pavillion to PAAAR-TAY!!

Saturday, Sept 5th: We'll lounge around the pool, visit and reminisce. As part of the pay as you go, we can pitch in and grill burgers and hotdogs at the Pavillion. The screened building will be perfect to escape the sun and play some games. Donna Lowery had mentioned bringing all her music equipment and serving as our DJ at our next function. So God willing, it is our prayer that she'll be healed and her health will permit her to do so! The Comfort Inn has an awesome restaurant, Austin's, and they serve excellent coconut shrimp, prime rib, blackened grouper, loaded potatoes, etc! So our evening meal will only be steps away from the pool and our hotel rooms.

Sunday, Sept 6th: Once again, the Pavillion area can be staged for another Praise & Worship service. This really capstones our weekend activities.

Monday, Sept 7th: LABOR DAY. We can use this day to travel back home from a busy weekend, or continue to hang out with buddies. With a "pay as you go" system, we can be flexible with our activities. We might can even twist Janet Vicker's arm and "wet a fishing line" in her huge pond or talk Mike Killeen into hosting us for boating, skiing, and fun at his place on Twin Lakes! Hanging out at Wild Adventures is also another option.

If this itinerary sounds good to you then make a reservation at the Comfort Inn. Remember your credit card will not be charged until you check-in on September 4th. So there is no reason for delaying your reservation! Rooms are limited so secure yours NOW. (With folks visiting Wild Adventures during Labor Day weekend, rooms do book fast.)

Then send your money to Lisa Thomas Jarvis at 5337 Golf Drive Lake Park GA 31636 for the following: $10 contribution toward the 3-Day rental fee of the Pavillion, plus $10 (per ticket) for the number of football tickets you need. Since most folks just spent this month's "allowance" on our Rainwater Conference Center Reunion, we understand if you need to POST DATE your check. HOWEVER, go ahead and send it to us post-dated. We'll wait to deposit your check until August 15th. At that time we'll purchase all the football tickets in advance. Those that do not send in their money risk the opportunity to sit with our classmates in the blocked seating. If you are already a Viking season ticket holder, please send just your $10 towards the Pavillion rental.

And the fun continues,
